IN MEMORY OF ISSEY MIYAKE • Issey Miyake was fashion's true futurist. The Japanese designer, who died from liver cancer in August in Tokyo at the age of 84, researched, experimented and innovated to push design forward and make it as democratic as possible. He achieved this by combining high-tech with traditional design. As he once told me: “I am always thinking of tomorrow.”

ALISON BELL ON THE REPRESENTATION OF MIDDLE AGE ON SCREEN • Much has been made of on-screen inclusivity, but how far does that extend to women of a certain age? Writer and actor Alison Bell, creator of The Letdown and star of this month's ABC series Significant Others, reflects on the new wave of self-expression celebrating all women and their stories.

SPRING TO IT • The style edicts for a spring wardrobe speak to a brighter, breezier spirit as the weather shifts. Welcome in a new ease, versatility and optimistic shades brimming with life.

GET SURREAL • In a time when we now expect the unexpected, fashion has rekindled a surrealist edge, with the peculiar, outlandish and outrageous headed for our wardrobes. Jonah Waterhouse examines fashion's weirdly wonderful turn.

ETERNAL CHAIN • The Chanel Premiére propelled the clock forward in watchmaking when it debuted in 1987 with its fashion-led codifiers – a leather and chain strap more like a bracelet than a timepiece. Today it remains classic, and totalement ahead of its time.

DREAM WEAVERS • When parallel cancer diagnoses confronted two best friends, a label was born that tapped into the power our clothes can have.

NATURAL WONDERS • Over the European summer, Cartier whisked guests away to Spain for an immersion into a world of art, beauty, nature and intricate design, all threads drawn together in its newest high jewellery collection, writes Alison Veness.

MINIMAL MATTERS • A new local resale site dedicated to timeless luxury, true zero-plastic swimwear makes a splash and the latest in sustainable fashion. By Alice Birrell.

BEST IN CLASS • Spring racing returns apace. Whether a classicist, or more inclined to be daring, front runners will tap into a spirit of expression and a sense of occasion this season.

BACK ON TOP • Hats and headwear are enjoying a renaissance, just in time for racing season. So, what's driving the resurgence of toppers, and which to don come race day? Alice Birrell finds out.

WINNING FORM • Want to get out in front with a look that takes top spot, not only in the style stakes but on the sustainable front, too? Rental might just be the answer. We enlist an expert to help you cut a fine figure trackside. By Alice Birrell.

RACHEL BAKEWELL • As spring racing returns, we ask British stylist Rachel Bakewell, an Ascot regular who fashioned its 2022 style guide, how racegoers back home can channel the fashion cues of the heritage English event.

SHORE THING • Away from the bustle of New York City, designer Phillip Lim's historic coastal holiday home on Long Island Sound provides room to breathe.

PRIMARY FOCUS • Every month, we ask a leading interior design talent to curate the style statements worth considering. This month, Dylan and Nicolette Farrell of Dylan Farrell Design use vivid hues to build modern interiors, proving the lasting power of courage and a kaleidoscopic palette.

JOY TO THE WORLD • Joy Crookes found chart-topping fame during the pandemic. Now the British singer is...
