K-Gr 2-Bo Tinseltail is back for another adventure in the second installment of this series from the author of "Owl Diaries." When items begin to go missing from Sparklegrove Forest, Bo and her classmates are on the case. As all clues begin to point to a dragon thief, Bo and her friends are nervous. Will they meet a scary dragon, or will it be something different entirely? This accessible early chapter book series is written as diary entries, and young audiences will find the format relatable. The bright, colorful, and cartoonish illustrations add fun and humor to the story and will help keep readers engaged. The lighthearted and informal tone, as well as the content of the story (fear about not knowing what to expect) will appeal to children. The text is appropriately challenging for beginning readers. VERDICT An additional purchase for libraries looking to expand their early chapter book section, or where Elliott's previous series is very popular.-Jessica Trafton, Skidompha Library, Damariscotta, ME
