GARY BIGENI ON HEALTH AND HAPPINESS • In 2017, Australian fashion designer Gary Bigeni was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. While his body underwent the tumult of treatment, his mind focused on a new approach to life, leading him to become a youth worker and to start creating fashion for everybody.

GREAT FORM • As fashion makes moves towards a more inclusive future, Vogue presents the ultimate shopping guide of the new season’s best trends, to suit every shape.

BREAK LOOSE • It’s time to make room – in ample volume, the baggy jean asserted itself as the style of this season. Able to skew both 1990s grungy or polished minimalist, it taps denim’s original aloof cool, with the advantage of being comfortable.

SOLID GROUND • The best shoes of this season riff on the classics – from pumps to loafers. Whether you prefer vertiginous or flat-out comfort, choose the height that’s right in your comfort zone and step out.

FIT TO BE TIED • Despite its seemingly constrained proportions, the modern corset is less about restriction than accentuation and aesthetics. From bralettes and cropped versions layered over relaxed silhouettes, to Tom Ford’s in-built jersey option, it flatters the waist, offsetting the body’s natural curves.

IN SHORT ORDER • The reigning hemline is unquestionably abbreviated in length and comes in the most diverse offering of shapes and styles yet, along with the realisation that all legs are worthy of their shining moment.

IN THE FOLD • Falling into waves and slung across shoulders, torsos and hips, the new draping speaks of a desire to show off the body, without doing away with the old comforts of days cocooning inside.

EXPOSURE THERAPY • Skin is in, or did it ever really go out? This time around though, designers are flexing creative muscle, dreaming up new ways to frame or reveal the body – and with it a sliding scale of options from demure to daring. Choose your mood.

MEASURING UP • The next step on the path to a truly size inclusive industry? Clothes that really fit, shaped to us and not the other way around. Vogue checks in on how fashion is resizing.

SHE’S A RAINBOW • From juicy, fruity shades to luscious jewel tones, chromatics get a workout this season. As seen on Australian actor Jillian Nguyen, meet the new block colours to light up in.

GILT TRIP • Accessories in molten gold add a gilded edge to a new season’s wardrobe. Opt in to an unapologetic mood of 24-carat glamour.

SEIZE THE MOMENT • Living in the now is a powerful antidote to uncertainty as the September shows demonstrated. Celebrations, optimism and showmanship saw fashion making the most of the present. We wrap up the best of the season.

AN AMERICAN IN PARIS • The surrealist legacy of Elsa Schiaparelli shines on under the tenure of Daniel Roseberry who has found fans in Jill Biden, Julia Fox and Lady Gaga. They have embraced his modern vision that puts the body squarely in the frame.

NEW LIGHT • Michael Halpern, designer of high-octane gowns in kaleidoscopic colour, shares a look inside his brightly lit home in London.

HILLARY TAYMOUR • We ask fashion’s leading lights to curate their world through style. Here, Hillary Taymour of inclusive, sustainably minded label Collina Strada, shares her inspirations, from ecological heroes to celebrity muses.
